Award Winner… this time for Election Day

Honoured to win another award… this time for ‘Election Day’ shot in 2015 during the general election, where I shot a compelling photo documentary of Simon Tobin, the UKIP candidate for Waveney.

The image “won the judges over” in the Behind the Scenes category of the 2016 Event Photography Awards.

The ceremony, which was held at Church House in Westminster was a glitzy affair, packed with photographers, media professionals and the all important judges.

Some ‘phone snaps’ are available below (it was nice to leave the camera behind for a few hours!)

The body of work tells the story of polling day – 24 hours in the life of a local man standing to become MP for Waveney.
Trying to gain access for complete coverage during polling day was rejected by the other three main parties, but Simon and the local party, to their credit opened up and allowed me complete access for 24 hours, providing an emotive glimpse at life in local politics.

No matter what party you support, whether you vote or not, all I can say is that Simon is one of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure to work with and although I personally might not agree with all that UKIP stand for, as a person he was top draw!

The Shortlist for the 2016 Event Photography

The Shortlist for the 2016 Event Photography Awards has been formerly announced and is available to view

As previously mentioned, one of my images from the documentary Election Day, has been shortlisted for the Behind the Scenes category.

Naturally thrilled to be shortlisted for another award and looking forward to the awards evening in a couple of weeks.

Short-listed for election day documentary

I’m thrilled to be short-listed for another photographic award.
This time, one of my documentary images from the 2015 series ‘Election Day’ has been short listed for the;
2016 Event Photography Awards

The image in question is from a 24 hour photographic documentary following the UKIP party and in particular Simon Tobin as he attempted to win the Waveney seat during the 2015 general election.
This emotive image was shot in the HQ of the local party as Simon (pictured) discussed the evening ahead during polling day.

It’s a bit of a rush! On the river with Waveney Rush Cutters

Working with Waveney Rush Cutters!
A few weeks back I was working on an illustrated feature for a regional magazine, working with one of the few remaining rush cutting and weaving companies left in the UK.

I joined them on the river Waveney, watching them cut the bull rush, before heading back to their workshop to learn how they create simply stunning natural products!

The feature will be published in October – Watch this space!
