Norfolk Schools Opera

Last month, Norfolk Schools Opera held the first opening performance at the Theatre Royal – where schools came together for a day of workshops and performances. – The project will eventually culminate in some outstanding performances in 2019 – Personally I can’t wait to see how the children’s ideas will transform the theatre stage!

“2018-19 Norwich Theatre Royal and Norfolk Music Hub are collaborating in a year-long programme, working with hundreds of pupils, teachers, and young gifted and talented musicians from across Norfolk”

The Barber of Seville | Theatre Royal, Norwich

The Barber of Seville was the incredible opera performed to an enthused audience at the Norwich Theatre Royall on Sunday as three Norwich schools (Mile Cross Primary School, Valley Academy & St Augustine’s ) took to the stage & performed their own inspired creations of the Barber of Seville that had been developed over several weeks with the help & guidance from a professional team of musicians & directors.
Soprano was again performed by the lovely Lynsey Docherty, while the guest Baritone spot was taken up by Philip Smith.

Should you ever have the opportunity to go and see one of the Norfolk Schools Projects then I would highly recommend it.

Norfolk Schools Project | Norwich

I feel privileged to be able to continue my long association with the team behind the Norfolk Schools Project at the Norwich Theatre Royal The Autumn project is well underway and last week I took a trip to Valley Primary Academy in Norwich for the Joint Singing Workshop, which sees all three schools come together for an afternoon of creative expression ahead of their performances at the theatre this coming Sunday. Embracing their roles, it was a joy to watch the children fulfill their creative potential.

Mr Banks at the Theatre Royal | Spotlight

It was lovely to spend the afternoon at the Theatre Royal in Norwich, where the charming Mr Banks – Mary Poppins (Neil Roberts) provided an entertaining talk about his career and anecdotes during the Spotlight on Business event, which was, as usual extremely well attended.

Matthew Kelly at the Spotlight event in Norwich

Matthew Kelly, star of the current show Toast, which is showing at the Norwich Theatre Royal over the next week was the guest speaker at the wonderful Norfolk business  Spotlight networking event held at the theatre.

100 plus local business people packed out the Adnams bar and settled in for an afternoon of stories and comic moments provided by the charming and somewhat loveable award winning actor Matthew Kelly.

Having met most of the guest speakers over the past three years, I have to say Matthew is probably the best, he’s a true performer and lovely person.

Spotlight on Susie Blake at Theatre Royal

Susie Blake & Kate Fahy were the guest speakers at the latest Theatre Royal Spotlight on Business event last Friday.

An entertaining chat and funny stories ensured the local business fraternity were certainly entertained.
