AGEUK Camden @ Samsung KX| Photographic Exhibition

Truly delighted to be showcasing over 20 emotive images shot during the Covid19 pandemic with AGEUK Camden. I spent a few days with the team truly in the heart of the pandemic and those affected within Camden. The images are being exhibited at the fabulous Samsung KX in Kings Cross, London – along with a showing of the short film I put together”Using imagery, this exhibition tells the story of the organisation, the people and the passion for providing services for older people, as well as the struggles and emotions experienced in such a challenging environment.” -Julian Claxton @Jules_Foto, our exhibition photographer#exhibition#london#samsungkx #covid19 #ageukcamden#covid19#people#community

Fabulous London Shoot

Often older people are portrayed in various publications & care homes/agencies etc as frail and happy to sit and watch the world pass them by….photographed in bland rooms with beige paint and those lovely (!?) vinyl chairs… thankfully things are changing and one organisation that I work with is at the forefront in changing perceptions & opportunities is AGE UK Camden.

I’ve been fortunate enough to work with them this year on a variety of exciting and challenging shoots, helping to change those preconceptions.

These images were from a shoot on the waterfront in Camden. It was a pleasure to not only photograph these people, but also to sit and talk and hear about their amazing lives – full of stories, love and passion, truly incredible people and who have thirst for life.

Event Photography Awards Shortlist

Delighted to announce I’ve been shortlisted for the 2019 Event Photography Awards. The image in question was a capture during a hectic morning shoot in one of the kitchens at a Cambridge College.

Commercial kitchens are never the easiest places to shoot, limited on time, space and equipment. Thankfully several elements seemed to come together and with careful planning the capture was complete.

It’s always a pleasure to be recognised in a national photographic award and especially one that is so hotly contested within the event and commercial photographic world.

Zoe Newson | Paralympic Powerlifter

With the Paralympics underway, I thought it the perfect time to wish local (ish) girl Zoe Newson the best of luck in Rio.
Taking part in the <45kg power lifting contest, lets hope she can build on the bronze from London! **Update, I’ve just heard she won another Bronze…nice work Zoe!**

In 2014 I worked on a small feature about Zoe, enjoying a chat with her about the colourful career shes had and the commitment to training she has had to have to reach the top of her game. A top Paralympic athlete and a lovely person!

Modern business portraiture in Cambridge

I Shot some enjoyable portraiture this week for the friendly folks at Future business.

The stunning buildings (in Peterborough & Cambridge) are home to dozens of eco and social enterprise businesses and honestly it seems everyone has a smile!

Getting away from the corporate style of photography, they want images that offer a slightly more relaxed and modern feel and I guess images that are more personable – something I love to shoot!

Photographs from the gorgeous wedding of Jason & Kate in Essex

A few more photographs from the gorgeous wedding of Jason & Kate in Essex. I can’t believe how quick time moves by! It was two weeks today that I was shooting a very relaxed Kate at the hair studio, before she returned home to get prepared for the big day.

The wedding took place at the charming Orsett Church, while the reception was at the lovely High House barns in Purfleet – a real gem and a venue that had a gorgeous small garden, allowing me to take the lovely couple away from their guests for a while.

I hope you enjoy the images,as Jason & Kate have – bookings available for 2016 onward. Visit  www.byjulian.com for further information
