Norfolk & Norwich Festival Supporters Evening

Last week the wonderful Norfolk & Norwich festival held a supporters evening at the charming Norfolk Club in Norwich.
The evening presents a chance for the charity to raise new funds for the forthcoming 2019 festival as well as providing a wonderful networking opportunity for individuals with like-minded interests. Emotive footage from the 2018 event was shown, as well as some hints for the 2019 festival, which promises to be fabulous!

The Norfolk & Norwich Festival…what an opening night!

Friday evening Norwich played host to the opening reception of the fabulous Norfolk & Norwich Festival where French company Transe Express led crowds through the city in a whirlwind of music, dance & acrobatics as thousands gathered around the City Hall & The Forum, Norwich to celebrate this rather energetic and atmospheric opening….

Incredible how a festival such as the Norfolk & Norwich can uplift the area, bringing in wonderful art, culture and generally a feeling of happiness and brightness during what are becoming ever more tough times for the vulnerable in our society.

Enjoy the festival & celebrate our wonderful multicultural outlook.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival Gala Evening

The annual Norfolk & Norwich Festival gala evening was held in the wonderful Adnams Spiegeltent in Chapelfield gardens last night, where the who’s who of Norfolk turned out to enjoy a wonderful evening, interspersed with amazing acts to entertain and thrill the audience.

Fabulous Cycling Festival Rolled to the Seaside

‘Gorleston in Gear’ was the place to be on Sunday, as a fabulous cycling festival rolled into the seaside town.

Kids and adults alike embraced the free cycling festival, which featured a 7 mile family ride, circus bikes, trial bike stunts, children’s bike ability/training and not forgetting the awesome paint bike!
Thankfully the weather embraced the occasion and helped everyone enjoy this spring cycling celebration

The Storytellers….

Telling stories is a real art – I mean the folks that call themselves the storytellers, really can bring to life stories that have been passed through generations.

Through my work I’ve been fortunate enough to hear some of the wonderful old and romantic stories.
Last week I had the pleasure of photographing two storytellers, Hugh Lupton and Taffy Thomas, two of the better known artists of their craft. I carefully moved around, shooting images while listening intently to theirwonderful and creative narratives.

Previously I had worked for BBC Countryfile, shooting images of presenter Katie Knapman who was on a storytelling course in Essex – this was also great fun, using a wonderfully ornate tipie, storyteller Paul Jackson lit the fire and held the listeners with his creative and moving stories.

Embracing Sports | Active Norfolk UEA Festival

The sporting theme continued last week as I visited the Start track festival at the UEA sportspark, shooting images for the organisers.

Thankfully I picked the right day, blessed with a mix of cloud and sunshine, at times it actually felt like Spring!

Spending the afternoon with the kids and the level two coaches I watched them learn no end of new skills, culminating in a rather competitive sports day! Excellent fun

Norfolk & Norwich Festival Workshop

Last Sunday, camera in hand I headed off to the city, ready to meet a group of GCSE photography students whom I had done a workshop with earlier in the month in association with the Norfolk & Norwich festival.

Getting out of the classroom and into a real life environment I met the students in Chapelfield gardens to photograph the Garden Party, which was an interactive afternoon of outstanding performances set in the city centre park.

Working with the folks from Wymondham High, I set them the task of photographing this part of the festival as a documentary photographer, shooting images that captivated the audience presenting a true photo story to the afternoon of events.

I have yet to see all their images, but in the meantime here is my photo story from the afternoon.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival Gala Dinner

Norfolk & Norwich Festival Gala evening was the place to be last week and fortunately for me, I was asked to shoot images of the proceedings throughout the evening.

Crica were one of the highlights of the evening, with their stunning array of acrobatic skill and fine performances, wowing the invited guests with jaw dropping displays.

It’s a joy to see so many terrific performances in one place!
