Back to my Photography Roots

I was back to my roots a few months ago (having previously worked as a medical photographer) at a lovely health centre in the midlands, shooting images for the medical press.

A great couple of days shooting, working with some of the many committed and passionate NHS employees.

The People | The Food | Norwich Market

Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to be asked by a client to shoot a range of imagery of Norwich market.

I often use the market when I’m in the city, but it wasn’t until i spent hours upon hours within the maze of stalls that I truly ‘got it’… the wonderful food, friendly nature of the stall holders, unique produce and great community.

I indulged my need for exciting & creative food, wonderful freshly roasted coffee and sublime cakes – oh what a treat this was!

The highlight – there were so many, too many to mention – a real gem of Norfolk.

A few images to follow in the coming weeks….

Fancy a quick snack..? Catering Shoot | Cambridge College

Fancy a quick snack..? maybe queen leafcutter ants,  buffalo worm and cricket falafel hashara or zataar flatbread made with cricket flour? My advice would be to book a dining spot at the fabulous St Johns College in Cambridge.

Talk about pushing boundaries… the chefs and apprentices at the college embrace the chance to work with some unusual and creative ingredients to create some rather memorable dishes!
A few weeks ago I was working on a stock of visuals for their new marketing material.
I love working at the colleges, their history, architecture and ambience is quite something.
It’s always a challenge to get good lighting, especially in kitchen environments where it can be rather hectic – but a challenge is all part of the job.

I particularly love the image of the waiting staff in the grand dining hall – a few strobes helped to present a strong visual.

Enjoyable Shoot on the Norfolk Broads

This shoot on the Norfolk Broads was only a few weeks ago, but already seems like a lifetime ago – oh how I miss the bright days, warm weather and light evenings… winter is creeping ever closer!

Towards the end of August I popped along to How Hill and Thurne to shoot some frames of happy holiday makers and the wonderful scenery. Enjoying a couple of boat trips, we found some willing models and set about some pretty quick setups to get some tourism material shot.. a thoroughly nice day spent on the river… couldn’t wish for much else could we!

Beautiful Wedding at Waxham Barns

A month ago I had the pleasure of photographing the lovely Ant & Martine at their wonderful wedding on the Norfolk Coast at Waxham Barns.

Summer was truly in full swing and we were greeted by lovely weather, beautiful blue sky, great food and well stocked bars!

The barns provided the perfect romantic space for their wedding, with the beach an ideal backdrop for some extra photographs.

Already a month into their marriage, I’m sure these images will provide a lovely little reminder of their special day. Congratulations folks

Waveney Rush on the Norfolk Broads

Last week was a varied time of shoots… on the Norfolk Broads, at Olympia in London and then in Tottenham in North London.. Couldn’t really get much more of a mixed bag than that!

The images below were from a shoot at Waveney Rush for BBC Countryfile magazine. Having finished an illustrated feature for the magazine I was then commissioned to also produce a ‘how to’ guide for making a drinks coaster from rushes collected from the Broads… it was easier to shoot than to make..but I do quite fancy having a go at this…

Check out the July issue of the magazine for the full feature and how to guide

In the meantime, if you fancy a visit to a real herirtage industry, I would recommend a call to Waveney rush to see if you can visit the workshop, which has to be in one of the best locations I’ve ever seen!
The company make wonderful matting, baskets and other pieces… stunning!
