Out on the Suffolk Route of The Women’s Tour

It’s that time of the year again (well preparations are underway) when the Women’s Tour of Britain visits East Anglia again..

With spectator numbers on the up and this year set to be even bigger and better with the best of best in Women’s cycling taking to the road, it will be sure to be an amazing stage race! The stage race is part of the inaugural Women’s WorldTour.

Last year I produced a feature on top Suffolk elite rider Tanya Griffiths, this year we’re looking at a couple of the female club riders who rode some of the Suffolk stage last week and provided their opinions on the course and race favorites.

Coming out in June 2016.

Tour of Britain comes to Norfolk

A rather wet and soggy start to the day in Fakenham, as the Tour of Britain rolled into town for the penultimate stage of the British road racing tour.

Crowds lined the roads in Norfolk to welcome some of the best cyclists in the world, as they rode through the Norfolk & Suffolk flat lands, leading to a wonderful spring finish in Ipswich.

Tour de Broads Sportive

The Tour de Broads on Sunday was a super busy day! 1200+ plus riders… I’ve just uploaded 2400+ images to two galleries – start & finish… It was a super day – Barry Hoban was a complete gent and it was a pleasure to photograph a real Tour de France legend!!

Finish Album 2

More than 1,000 riders took part in the second Tour de Broads on Sunday.

They were joined by former professional cyclist Barry Hoban, who won eight stages of the Tour de France between 1967 and 1975.

Starting at Weston Longville, cyclists either took part in the 40-mile ride, sponsored by Archant, publishers of the EDP and Norwich Evening News, or followed a 70-mile route.

The longer route took in Wroxham, Strumpshaw Fen and a ferry crossing at Reedham before going through Loddon and skirting Norwich back to the start.

Organiser Luke Rumblelow, from Revolution Events, said: “We were overwhelmed by the positive comments, smiles and unruffled enthusiasm, particularly at the finish. With all the support on the day, we have raised funds to support local grass-roots cycling projects.”
