Norfolk Cycling Team @ UK National Cycling Champs

Yesterday I was out at the feed zone two in Holkham Estate, helping out some good friends at DAP cycling, who were racing in the UK National Champs.
Swapping the camera for several musettes!

Knowing the roads well, I did manage to get ahead of the race on a couple of occasions and shoot some images (packed the 70-200 in the car just in case)

Joining the local DAP riders were a host of household names, including Mark Cavendish MBE, Ian Stannard and eventual winner Ben Swift.
in 25-degree heat, over 180 of the UKs best cycling talent took to the winding country lanes and wind-stricken roads of Norfolk for a true test of grit and endurance over the 125 mile route.
Reigning champion, Connor Swift (Team Arkea-Samsic), was back to defend his title, but he faced competition from 2016 champion Adam Blythe (Lotto Soudal), 2013 winner and former world champion Mark Cavendish (Team Dimension Data) plus 2012 national champion Ian Stannard.

From the start, some of the large UCI teams began driving the pace, gradually thinning out the field, with attacks happening on a regular basis.
The journey from the coast, back through Wroxham and towards home was a telling point, with attack after attack, eventually seeing Ben Swift roll through the tight city centre corners to win the British road race title in some style.
Two of the DAP riders finished in extremely good company, with Andrew Taylor coming in 54th and Harley Matthews a credible 83rd.

Cycling fun in Yarmouth

Fabulous shoot a few weeks ago in sunny Great Yarmouth with a wonderful family.

I was on the lookout for some suitable models and up steps one of the most willing and helpful families around! Kindly giving up a couple of hours, they came, bikes in tow ready to pose along the bright and sunny seafront.

Thankfully Yarmouth has now added to the seafront appeal with some equally bright and cheerful beach huts which provided a useful backdrop.

Summer Shoot on the Norfolk Broads

With the wet and cold weather firmly set in for Winter,  it seems suitable to look back a few months on some of my shoots on the Norfolk Broads, in particular three wonderful days on the Northern & Southern Broads, photographing cyclists, holidaymakers, day trippers, horse riders and locals, all of whom made the summer so much fun for me & my camera gear!

Southwold Roubaix Sportive – Images Live

A selection of rather atmospheric images from the inaugural Roubaix Sportive in Southwold on Sunday.

Rain, mud and mist were the order of the day – all credit to everyone who took part in the event – you hardy lot!

Cycle Shoot in Top Local Bike Chain

Always a pleasure to pop along to a shoot in a cycle related location!
A couple of weeks ago I visited Pedal Revolution in their Norwich store to update some of their imagery to keep in touch with their new branding.

It was good fun and I managed to leave the store without a new bike purchase! I was somewhat impressed with my resolve!

A piece of cake | Suffolk cycling

In this months Suffolk magazine my latest cycling ride takes in the wonderful countryside of West Suffolk – starting in Ickworth, I really enjoyed the 30 odd mile cycle ride through some wonderfully quiet and quaint lanes. A nice coffee and cake at the new cycle cafe Magila Rosa and a few testing hills to burn that cake off!

All rather enjoyable and fabulous way to write a new feature

Norfolk Cycle Show Gallery

Yesterday saw the 2nd Norfolk Cycle Show.

Building on the success of the first event in 2013, the orgnaisers packed a day full of amazing stands, great people and some wonderful guest speakers!

Graeme Obree

Graeme Obree

A particular favorite of mine was Graeme Obree… who I have long admired and has been somewhat of a hero of mine since I took up cycling many years ago. A hugely passionate person who is probably one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting and photographing.
