Meet The Buyer | Offshore Wind

A successful ‘Meet the buyer’ event was held at Norwich City FC last week – a chance for Norfolk businesses to be part of the huge Norfolk Vanguard offshore wind project.
Using local suppliers is key to the development and smooth implementation of the wind farm, keeping money in the local economy and building upon the expertise and infrastructure that is already here.

From my point of view, it’s interesting to hear about the future of wind energy and how the county is tooling itself up to be one of the leaders in this industry.

Light, Bright Corporate Shoot

I remember the days (gosh I sound somewhat old now!) when I was first commissioned – many years ago – to shoot corporate material. I would arrive and be greeted with bland walls, laminate furniture and horrible lighting.

These days companies – certainly those forward-thinking organisations, have created wonderfully light, bright and attractive places of work. Even older properties have been transformed with colour and those nice little touches. It is really good to see organisations investing in their employees, considering their wellbeing and of course enabling photographers to grab some excellent frames.

This recent work is shot in the company’s offices in Norwich and Cambridge and as with the vast majority of my work, was a joy to shoot.

Fabulous Business Shoot in Peterborough

Fabulous shoot a couple of weeks ago in Peterborough… lovely people, great building, inspiring tech and shockingly good food…

A long day with the camera gear, saw a variety of shoots throughout the building. People, food and events were the order of the day… timing the food shoots just before lunch enabled us to eat the samples (not all of them.. just the one dish)… bit unusual this, as normally it’s stone cold and heavily ‘made up’ – but the chef prepared it perfectly and it was ready to go on time and looking great.. .no make up required!

Cameras, lights, horses and horse-feed!

Occasionally I get shoots booked in that require a slightly different skillset.
This particular summer shoot was for a well-known and extremely well-respected horse feed & nutrition company. Coming from a horse background, it certainly helped with dealing and photographing the various owners and their beautiful horses.
Working with animals is always testing (boy am I glad I don’t work with them full time!) but equally it’s rather satisfying when the images come together.
One of my favourites is the head Nutritionist in one of the feed rooms – the light was just right, adding a small strobe and reflector helped illuminate the shadows and provided a pleasing portrait.

Spot of Photography at a Norwich Acupuncture Clinic

An enjoyable and interesting recent shoot saw me popping along to the charming Three Treasures Acupuncture clinic in Norwich to work with Nicola.

I’ve witnessed first hand the benefits of acupuncture from numerous visits to China, but to really get an insight into the ‘art’ and craft of this fabulous treatment was a real pleasure and indeed interesting. The years studying & constant CPD has meant Nicola is a real knowledge bank regarding her industry and I thoroughly enjoyed a formal introduction to Acupuncture and to understand the numerous treatments on offer and the health benefits these can have.

Portraiture at Anglia Ruskin | Cambridge

Rather privileged to head back to Anglia Ruskin University to work with a marketing client, obtaining a selection of editorial portraiture for their forthcoming PR use.
Using the interesting surroundings of the Lord Ashcroft Business School, we managed to dodge the harsh sunlight, employ the use of a couple of reflectors and then add a little fill light with a couple of soft boxes

NW Brown @ St Johns College

The splendid grounds of St Johns College in Cambridge played host to the NW Brown summer garden party last week.

Although the event was moved from the lawn to the marquee (good ole British weather!) naturally it still provided a terrific venue and an enjoyable evening for the customers & friends of NW Brown.

Train shoot in Norfolk

Enjoyable little train journey the other week, shooting some business pr images on public transport… Health & Safety concerns meant I wasn’t allowed to use any additional lighting, so I ended up shooting most of the material with my 50mm 1.4, making the most of the wonderful natural light.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival Gala Evening

The annual Norfolk & Norwich Festival gala evening was held in the wonderful Adnams Spiegeltent in Chapelfield gardens last night, where the who’s who of Norfolk turned out to enjoy a wonderful evening, interspersed with amazing acts to entertain and thrill the audience.
