Shooting for a Superb Local Charity

I’m always incredibly proud when my work appears in print, on websites and on advertising collateral.
No matter if it’s a small company or large corporate, the fact that they trust you to supply wonderful imagery and uphold their high standards is testament to the hard work I put into each and every shoot.

I’ve been working with the BigC Cancer Charity in Norfolk for a few years, often seeing my work on the side of buses, in print or on big advertising pitches throughout the region.
Last week the charity launched their Online Support Centre website – using a lot of my imagery.
The website has been a key development in the charity and is a great online platform/information portal.

Behind the Scenes in Norwich

It’s always a pleasure to ‘get behind the scenes’ with access to the amazing work that is undertaken in the fine city of Norwich by the folks in the cancer labs for Norfolk Charity BigC. I spent a couple of mornings photographing professors, the laboratories and some of the interns who are choosing this highly complex level of research as their specialty.  An insight into the excellent work that is undertaken on our doorstep.

The Big C Centre at the Norfolk & Norwich hospital, a truly warm homely space for those that need it.
It was a complete pleasure to be able to shoot in this wonderful space for such an inspiring Norfolk charity.

BigC Workshop on the Broads

Saturday played host to the BigC Broads Photographic workshop, which I hosted in aid of the fabulous Norfolk charity on the Edge of the River Bure & Thurne.

Given we’ve enjoyed some fabulous recent weather, I think, quite rightly myself and all the participants envisaged a wonderfully warm, bright day with the cameras….. Sadly, we were met with wind, rain and dreadfully cold temperatures… in fact, it felt more like November.

Still, we Brits are a hardy lot and having only one participant pull out, the rest of us popped the rain coats on and proceeded to shoot some atmospheric images along this picturesque part of the Broads.
Naturally, during the workshop, I’m not shooting my own material, instead, advising, suggesting and running through settings and ideas with all.

After the folks had departed Thurne, I stayed on and shot a few 40 second exposures as the darkness rolled in and moments before it began to rain.
A beautiful hue formed over the mill & river and thankfully in those couple of minutes I managed to capture my one frame of the day.

Charity Portraiture in Norwich

I had the pleasure of visiting the newly refurbished BigC centre in Norwich to shoot some portraiture. Walking through the door, it feels like home, a terrifically well planned space, with quiet areas, social spaces & relaxing gardens. A big credit to all connected with this fabulous centre for improving the care and social well being of people needing to use the centre.

One Truly Inspirational Norfolk Person

One of the many pleasures of being a photographer that I’m always harping on about, is the wonderful people I get to meet.

One such inspirational and truly incredible person is David Moar.
David was the co-founder of the BIGC – the cancer charity for Norfolk & Waveney.
Suffering from ‘The Big C’ himself in the early 80’s he became frustrated with the long journey’s to London for treatment – move forward a few years and the BIGC cancer charity was formed, becoming instrumental in the research, development & treatment of cancer in Norfolk.

I spent an enjoyable afternoon in the company of David at his Norfolk home, shooting some soft editorial images. A real treat to be in such lovely company.

Working with a Norfolk Charity

For the past year I’ve been working with one of Norfolk’s key charities, creating a set of visuals, moving them onto the next level with regards to their photographic presence in an ever increasing and competitive charity industry. From muddy cross country running, thrilling winter skydiving, long bicycle rides to getting covered in coloured paint and jumping from a crane over the Forum in Norwich, it’s certainly been one hell of a year. Having just had the pleasure of viewing the new Big C fundraising site and handling some of their new promo and fundraising packs, I’m thrilled to see the images come to life in such a way.

An enjoyable introduction to Golf….

An enjoyable introduction to Golf.
To be honest, I’m not really a big golf fan, I’ve never seen the appeal of spending several hours walking around the course – however, two weeks ago armed with my camera gear, umbrella (not needed, but felt it helped me look the part!) and a golf buggy (thank goodness for this!) I had the pleasure of attending the BIG C corporate golf day at Bawburgh Golf Club.

It took me an hour or so to learn the course, where I could and couldn’t go and how to avoid the flying the golf balls.
What transpired was an enjoyable day shooting images of the various teams taking on the 18 holes – I learnt a lot and a ball (excuse pun!) but for what it’s worth, I’ll stick to the cycle for my leisure activity!
