Fabis | South Western Uganda

Fabis.

I met this interesting lady last year while visiting some old friends in Western Uganda. I was truly captivated by the muted colours and wilderness of scene that unfolded in front of me.

30 year old Fabis has two children and works around 8 hours a day in the fields and banana groves earning 2500 ugx (50p) per day, in the village of Kachwekano. She suffers with bad eyesight.

Give a Child a Camera | V3 2018 | Uganda

I’m really pleased to announce that #Giveachildacamera returns for 2018, where I will be rolling the project out to a group of young vulnerable children on the border with Rwanda.

Give a child a camera is all about providing slightly different opportunties for children in East Africa.
After a little bit of tution the children, (who have not used cameras before) are given their cameras for around a week, where they document their lives in a fascinating fashion.

If you would like to get involved, have an old camera, laptop, equipment or wish to donate to the project please pop along to the project website  https://giveachildacamera.wordpress.com/

picfair pick of the week….

Lovely to see two of my images on the picfair pick of the week…

One of them is of a Norfolk reed cutter – Eric Edwards, who I spent a lot of time with, shooting images and learning the craft of reed cutting. Over two winters I collected a wonderful array of images of the Eric working on the Norfolk reed beds. He was a real character, always had a story to tell and was a wonderful ambassador for his industry.

Sadly Eric passed away a few years ago, but his memory and inspiration really do live on.
